Fenway Mixed Use Project, Boston, MA
Boston Environmental was contracted to perform the extensive excavation and materials handling services needed for a mixed-use project in the Fenway section of Boston. The project included three high-rise steel-framed residential towers containing 12, 15 and 16 levels above grade. The towers were interconnected by two 10-story structures and one retail level over three levels of below-grade parking covering the entire 98,000 square-foot site.
The excavation for the building foundations and the lowest level slab generated about 130,377 cubic yards of excess soil, including 41,687 cubic yards of urban fill material, 4,954 cubic yards of sand fill material and 83,745 cubic yards of natural soils consisting of organics, sand and clay, from within the proposed building footprint as part of the required building construction.
