Boston Environmental treated about 1,300 tons of lead-contaminated soil at this site in Ware, Massachusetts in July 2006 as a subcontractor to New England Disposal Technologies. The treatment by Boston Environmental allowed the soil to be declassified, rendering it non-hazardous. Prior testing had shown leachable lead levels of 50 mg/l, 10 times the level defining it has hazardous. Through the application of 1-2 percent of FESI-BONDR WET-D, Boston Environmental reduced the TCLP Lead levels to below 5 mg/l.
Boston Environmental’s services included a bench scale treatability study to determine the proper mix and application rates, the development of a site-specific health and safety and Standard Operating Plan procedures and the treatment of the soil.
